Shanghai reported eight new imported COVID-19 cases on Monday while three patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Tuesday morning.

All of the imported patients are Chinese nationals flying from the United Arab Emirates.

They departed from the UAE on August 7 on the same flight and arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport the same day.

They have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while all the close contacts on the plane have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

So far, of all the 452 imported cases, 399 have been discharged upon recovery and 53 are still hospitalized.

Two imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Sunday.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
