1 new COVID-19 case reported in Shanghai

Shanghai reported one imported novel coronavirus case on Wednesday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Thursday morning.

The patient is a Chinese travelling in Uganda who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 18.

The patient has been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment, while 30 close contacts on the plane have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

Meanwhile, 15 patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery, the commission said. 

So far, of all the 509 imported cases, 434 have been discharged upon recovery and 75 are still hospitalized.

Two imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Wednesday.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
