A copyright trading center of the China Media Group will be established at the international media harbor in Xuhui District, the authority announced on Saturday.

It will be a one-stop center for copyright, including inquiry, authorization, trading and safeguarding rights and interests. It will be based on the copyright resources of the national media group and advanced technology such as the transmission of ultra-high-definition videos based on 5G technology and smart 8K devices with artificial intelligence.

Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the publicity department of the CPC Central Committee and president of China Media Group, said the establishment of the center will help the integration and trading of all copyright resources of the group.

Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng said that since the city signed a cooperation framework agreement with the group in 2018 many work centers have been built in the local harbor. These include the headquarters of the national media group in the Yangtze River Delta region and a national base for dubbing multilingual film and television.

He added that the city is committed to developing world-class new mainstream media with the national media group.

A research institute for the development of cities will also be built in the harbor by the group, it announced on Saturday.

Shen said the institute will set the standard for development with Chinese characteristics based on Shanghai’s experience.
