Urban conditions are getting better and better

Jiading is striving to make urban living condition better. A series of talks unveiling city construction were held last month, focusing on issues including greenery, education and cultural tourism.

As residents demand more green areas, Jiading tries to make space available on the street for pocket parks or other public facilities featuring greenery. It will have a forest area of 167 hectares open to the public by the end of 2025.

With the garbage-sorting policy and the use of new technologies, the district’s environment has been greatly improved.

In education, the authorities are cooperating with colleges to bring in quality resources. A kindergarten affiliated to Tongji University is opening this year, and the collaboration will extend to primary and middle schools in the future.

Jiading currently has over 400 public cultural activity venues. The “Culture Jiading Cloud” online platform has been launched to learn about residents’ needs.

The auto industry, which accounts for half of the district’s GDP, will continue to take up a major part of Jiading’s development map.

Its industrial gathering and the full industrial chain contribute 40 percent and 30 percent of the district’s employment rate and revenue respectively.

As the driverless technology landed first in the district, the development of Shanghai’s intelligent connected vehicle will officially expand in scale and give the industry a new boost.
