The city reported two more imported novel coronavirus cases on Wednesday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Thursday morning.

The first patient is a Chinese working in the United States who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 25.

The second is a Chinese working in Senegal who arrived at the Shanghai airport on August 25.

Both patients have been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment, while 37 close contacts on the planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

Meanwhile, two patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery on Wednesday.

So far, of all the 546 imported cases, 472 have been discharged upon recovery and 74 are still hospitalized.

One imported suspected case is undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Wednesday, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
