1 imported COVID-19 case reported in Shanghai

Shanghai reported one new imported novel coronavirus case on Monday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Tuesday morning.

The patient is a Chinese studying in the United States who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 30.

The patient has been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while 48 close contacts on the plane have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

Meanwhile, five patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery on Monday.

So far, of all the 562 imported cases, 505 have been discharged upon recovery and 57 are still hospitalized.

No imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Monday, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
