Passport window for workers going overseas
Dozens of workers going overseas have obtained passports at a special window in the past month, Shanghai police said on Monday.
The window, located at the exit-entry administration bureau’s service center on Minsheng Road in Pudong, now serves over 20 companies in Shanghai that have overseas projects, police said.
Over 10 workers from the Shanghai Construction Group who are going overseas came to the window for the service.
“The targeted service is important to us especially in times of the COVID-19 pandemic when available international flights have been significantly reduced,” said Pan Liwei, a manager of the company.
Pan said that since most of the workers who are to go overseas for a particular project are not from Shanghai, the special window offered a "green channel" for them to apply for passports together, providing great convenience for the company.
Police said they will offer more convenience to participants of the third China International Import Expo in November this year.
