6 imported COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

The city reported six new imported novel coronavirus cases on Wednesday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Thursday morning.

The first patient, a Chinese, and the second and the third, both French, are from the same family. They departed from France and arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on September 4.

The fourth patient is a Chinese working in India who arrived at the Shanghai airport on September 7.

The fifth patient is a British who arrived at the Shanghai airport on September 7.

The last patient is a Chinese working in Singapore who arrived at the Shanghai airport on September 7.

All the new patients have been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment, while 167 close contacts on the same planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

Meanwhile two patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery.

So far, of all the 587 imported cases, 542 have been discharged upon recovery and 45 are still hospitalized.

One imported suspected case is undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Wednesday, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
