Two sunscreen samples among 20 tested failed the standard for excessive sun-screening agent, Shanghai's consumer council said on Tuesday.

The JMsolution and RE:CIPE brands were found to contain excessive levels of ethylhexyl salicylate, the council said.

Excessive amounts of sun-screening agents will irritate skin, it said.

The council tested the 20 samples based on their safety, effect and user experience, with products from Mistine, Coppertone Water Babies, Jmsolution, BananaBoat and RE:CIPE coming bottom of the list, it said.
