As a key link of the middle ring and outer ring in the Pudong New Area, the reconstruction of Jiyang Road aims to improve the elevated road network and relieve congestion on the Puxing Highway.

The reconstruction of Jiyang Road has become the first large project in the city to adopt a new smart management platform.

As a key channel connecting the middle ring and outer ring in the Pudong New Area, Jiangyang Road has been temporarily blocked since May for renovation.

With the combined technology of BIM (building information modeling) and on-site Internet of Things equipment, the new platform can optimize traffic analysis, ensure planning and feasibility in key areas, and on-site material and personnel management.

The platform can also reduce the impact of construction on surrounding traffic, such as sound and dust real-time monitoring, which could greatly benefit nearby residents.

To check construction progress and ensure safety, drones are used to collect and upload information to the cloud platform in real time.

The reconstruction project, over a total length of 7.1 kilometers, stretches from Lupu Bridge in the north to the boundary of Minhang District in the south.

After completion, it will relieve congestion on the Puxing Highway, and make commuting easier between Sanlin in Pudong and Pujiang in Minhang District.

At present, 70 percent of the project has been completed. According to the transport commission, it will be open to the public at the end of March next year.
