2 new imported COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

The city reported two new imported novel coronavirus cases on Wednesday, while three patients were discharged upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Thursday morning.

The first patient is a Chinese living in Hong Kong who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on September 15.

The second is a Chinese working in Singapore who arrived at the Shanghai airport on September 21.

Both new patients have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while 45 close contacts on the same planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

So far, of all the 635 imported cases, 591 have been discharged upon recovery and 44 are still hospitalized.

No imported suspected case is undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Wednesday, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
