A modern drama about a Communist Party member who organized various activities in the resistance movement against Japanese invaders debuted at the Longhua Martyr Memorial in Xuhui District on Wednesday, the 7th Martyrs' Day.

The play "Falling Star," created by staff at the memorial, tells the story of Mao Liying (1910-1939), chairwoman of the Shanghai Professional Women's Club. She joined the resistance against Japanese invaders to assist in the front line, collecting clothing and funds for the New Fourth Army. She was eventually assassinated in Shanghai.

The show was broadcast on Weibo for online viewers.

The memorial site has also made a short video about martyred heroes at Longhua and displaying its rich collection of artifacts.

People can plant virtual trees to commemorate fallen heroes via the memorial's WeChat and Weibo accounts.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
