Jiahui International Hospital, the only international hospital among the 33 designated medical facilities serving the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE), conducted a drill on Wednesday to enhance epidemic-control preparedness for the grand event.

During the drill, the international medical team at the hospital reviewed processes of patient management, in-hospital infection control and epidemic prevention among hospitalized patients.

The hospital has been preparing for the expo since September through changes to its epidemic-control procedures and facilities.

Air-conditioning system in the hospital have been installed with medical purifiers and the system can be switched to outdoor air ventilation during emergencies to prevent airborne disease transmission.

The hospital also has negative pressure systems and isolation rooms for separating patients suspected of coronavirus infection.

Jiahui was the first private hospital in Shanghai to open a fever clinic after the coronavirus outbreak. When encountering potential infected patients, the hospital will issue an alert and report to the disease control and prevention center for patient transfer.

The hospital is also the only private hospital approved for nucleic acid testing to better serve the CIIE.
