Medical staff from Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital share their experiences during the fight against coronavirus in a performance on Wednesday.

Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital organized a special performances to invite front-line medical workers to share their stories.

Fan Cunyi, vice president of the hospital, shared his story of offering health services in Wenchuan after the area's 2008 earthquake; Dr Fan Xiaohong, leader of the hospital’s team to Wuhan, the former epicenter of the novel coronavirus epidemic, told how her team achieved 100 percent satisfaction from all treated patients while ensuring zero deaths and zero relapses; and Dr Li Yingchuan from the hospital’s intensive medicine department who worked in the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, the designated hospital for coronavirus patients, said all doctors tried their best to save every patient.

During the performance, Dr Zhang Wei shared his story of saving a girl under extremely difficult conditions in Tibet. He fell sick for three days after a challenging surgery there, while the patient was saved.

The emergency department of Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital is the biggest emergency center among the city’s public hospitals and the biggest trauma rescue center.

Doctors shared tales about saving patients from heart attack, a pregnant patient with brain bleeding and a 17-hour surgery to reconnect a patient's severed fingers.

“The fight for life happens every day in the emergency room of our hospital and every medical staffer tries their best to light patients’ lamp of life,” said Chen Fang, a hospital official.
