Running through Sunday at the Shanghai World Expo Exposition and Convention Center, Art Plus Shanghai opened on Thursday, attracting nearly 70 galleries and art institutions and cover an area of 25,000 square meters.

According to Gu Zhihua, founder of the fair, Art Plus Shanghai aims to create a platform featuring commerce, social media, art news and art appreciation.

“We adopted a strategic plan of 4+365. Four stands for the number of days of the offline fair, while 365 indicates the platform’s daily online display and trading function,” said Gu. “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more and more people in the art community now realize the importance of online exhibitions and merchandising for future development.”

Also during the fair, a series of roundtable meetings with experts, critics and artists will cover subjects such as art and finance and the collection of contemporary art.

The first Art Plus Shanghai International Fair was held at the convention center in October last year. The four-day event attracted 101 domestic and foreign galleries and 25,000 visitors.

Visitors to this year's fair should remember to take their identity cards. Online booking is required for entrance.
