Six jailed for beating tourists, public fighting

Six people were sentenced to jail terms ranging from one year to three and a half years for beating up three tourists in Lijiang, a famous scenic area in Yunnan Province, in December 2016, Gucheng District People’s Court said today.

He Rongsong received three years behind bars for intentional injury and fighting in a public place, while the other five were convicted of fighting in a public place, the court said, according to CCTV.

The six defendants went to a barbecue restaurant around 3am on December 11, 2016, where they provoked trouble and started fights with three victims who were also dining in the restaurant, the court heard.

One of the victims, a woman surnamed Dong, claimed they struck her in the face with beer bottles and shot video to threaten them not to call the police.

The six said they won’t appeal the ruling.
