China's south is bracing for heavy rain in the coming days, China's national weather observatory said on Sunday.

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecast moderate to heavy rain in regions including Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi on Sunday and Monday, with precipitation of up to 55 millimeters.

Moving eastward, the rain belt will affect some eastern areas, including Anhui and Jiangsu. Parts of the northeast, such as Heilongjiang, are also likely to see light to medium precipitation.

The NMC also renewed a blue alert for Talim, the 18th typhoon this year. Although expected to weaken after landing in Japan, Talim will continue to bring gales to the east coast until Monday.

Local governments should take precautions, and ships in affected areas should return to port, according to the NMC.
