All nine workers have been rescued after being trapped for about 100 hours due to an expressway tunnel collapse in north China, government sources confirmed Thursday.

The workers were rescued from Ying'erling tunnel in Laiyuan County, Hebei Province on Wednesday night, and are in a good condition.

A collapse occurred on one side of the tunnel at around 4 p.m. Saturday with debris blocked the exit, trapping the workers inside.

Rescuers managed to contact them and confirmed they were safe via a pipe the next morning. Food and drinking water were then sent to them via the channel.
