Seat selection for high-speed trains now available online
Passengers are able to select seats when purchasing train tickets online from today.
The new service, via the official railway ticketing website or mobile application, will be particularly useful for passengers travelling with multiple companions to ensure the group can sit together.
China Railway, the country's railway service operator, said the move is to improve users' experience while purchasing tickets.
The seat selection service will be available for bullet train services starting with C, D, and G.
It is being rolled after a trial on a high-speed train service in Hainan Province which started from December last year.
Another service rolled out the same day is the seamless transferring option during online purchasing.
Before, when there are no tickets available between the passenger's ideal departure and destination, the passenger would have to search transfer options separately to check the tickets' availability.
Now the online system will display one-stop options and related seat availability for the user's ideal trip. The payment for the two train services can also be completed together.
