North and South Poles, South America and North Europe are the most desirable destinations among rich Chinese tourists, a survey revealed today.

The survey conducted by HHtravel, a luxury travel operator affiliated with Ctrip interviewed hundreds of high-end travelers. It found that more than 90 percent of interviewees have the intentions to visit the polar destinations, with small cruise ship tours, polar animals, glacier trekking and northern lights the most attractive.

During the 2016-2017 travel season, China exceeded Australia to become the second largest origin of tourists to Antarctica, following the United States. The travel season is usually between November and March.

A total of 5,286 Chinese tourists traveled to the South Pole during that period, accounting for 12 percent of the total number of tourists, according to the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators.

The 2017 BRICS Summit, Rio Olympic Games, relaxed visa policy, a galaxy of five-star hotels, mysterious ancient relics, and beautiful landscape make the South America a favorite destination among Chinese high-end tourists, the survey found.

Private entrepreneurs, corporate executives, investors and their families are the majority of high-end travelers in China, and they are aged between 35 and 50 years old who prefer small tour groups from two to six persons, the survey found.

They enjoy private, exclusive, personalized, and flexible trips, according to the survey.

HHtravel will launch an 88-day luxurious round-the-world trip on November 20.

The tour covers 17 countries like Canada, the United States, Cuba, Jamaica, Panama, Costa Rica, Peru, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. There will be seven cultural relics and 18 national parks during the tour. Tourists will take Silver Cloud Expedition, a luxury ship of Silversea Cruise to explore the polar beauties.
