A strong cold front is expected to sweep across China over the next three days, bringing gales and lowering temperatures, the country's meteorological authority forecast on Thursday.

From Thursday evening to Sunday morning, temperatures in parts of Anhui, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong and Zhejiang will plunge by up to 12 degrees Celsius, according the National Meteorological Center (NMC) website.

Lowest temperatures in parts of northern and central China are likely to fall below zero degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Freezing winds will hit parts of central and eastern China, while parts of Anhui, Henan, and Jiangsu will see frost.
