Rainbow road to help drivers down mountain
A unique, colorful S-shaped road has recently opened to the public in the southwestern city of Chongqing.
The 185-meter-long, 5-meter-wide road links the top of Jigong Mountain in the city’s Fuling District to the Lixiang River Bridge at the foot of the mountain, with a slope of 18.5 degrees.
According to staff of the mountain scenic spot, the “rainbow road” is covered with a high-strength anti-slip asphalt surface. Cars are only allowed to travel downhill along the road, at a maximum speed of 5 kilometers per hours.
Netizens joked that drivers who are not skilled enough might be stuck halfway on the road.
“This is a perfect site to conduct a driving test,” a netizen said.
