'Justice League' tops Chinese box office

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's big-budget superhero film "Justice League" dominated the Chinese film market during its debut week ending Nov. 19, earning 322 million yuan (US$48.5 million), China Film News reported Tuesday.

Marvel's "Thor: Ragnarok" came in second with 76 million yuan at the box office last week. It has raked in 708 million yuan since its release on Nov. 3.

Third place went to Fox's "Murder on the Orient Express," earning 68.5 million yuan last week. The mystery drama has made 195 million yuan since its release on Nov. 10.

Domestic comedy "The Golden Monk" landed in fourth place, generating about 55 million yuan in its first week.

Rounding out the top five was domestic film "Seventy-Seven Days," which grossed more than 24 million yuan last week.
