Two rounds of cold fronts will sweep across most parts of northern China, bringing strong wind and temperature plunge in the next five days, the national observatory forecast Sunday.

Temperatures in parts of northern and northeastern provinces will fall by up to eight degrees Celsius Sunday. Between Tuesday and Thursday, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and northeastern provinces will see temperatures drop by up to more than 10 degrees Celsius, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.

The chilly weather will be accompanied by strong wind and precipitation in some places, the NMC forecast.

Some regions in Inner Mongolia, Gansu and Heilongjiang will expect snow on Tuesday and Wednesday, with heavy snow forecasting for eastern and southern parts of Heilongjiang.

The national observatory also forecast moderate rainfall for some southern and southwestern provinces during the period.
