Hengfeng Bank Chairman Cai Guohua is being investigated for alleged serious violation of discipline and law, the bank announced Tuesday.
The bank, one of 12 nationwide joint-equity commercial banks in China, gave no further details.
The bank had total assets of more than 1.2 trillion yuan (US$182.3 billion) as of the end of 2016. It has more than 300 branches around the country.
