University professor sacked for sexual harassment
A professor has been sacked from Beihang University for sexual harassment, the Beijing-based University said in a statement Thursday night.
Chen Xiaowu was removed from all his posts for “seriously violating teachers’ ethics and code of conduct,” the statement said.
The investigation into Chen was launched after several of his former students reported his sexual harassment to the university.
One of the victims, Luo Qianqian, said Chen once took her to his home and sexually harassed her. She begged him until he finally stopped. The harassment happened from the end to 2004 to early 2005 when Luo was pursuing a doctorate degree while Chen was her professor.
After Luo shared her experience online, a few more students complained of similar sexual harassment and even assaults.
Initially Chen had denied all allegations and said he had done nothing against the law.
