Xi visits impoverished ethnic villagers in Daliang Mountains
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday visited the homes of impoverished villagers of the Yi ethnic group who live deep in the Daliang Mountains of Zhaojue County, Sichuan Province in southwest China.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, asked the villagers about their lives and discussed poverty alleviation with local officials and villagers.
One of the major goals China has set is to eradicate poverty by 2020. The Chinese central government has unveiled a three-year action plan to improve the rural living environment.
