The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Saturday opened its door to the public for the first time.

The guests viewed a photo exhibition and visited the reception rooms, the meeting room and the fitness room in the LOCPG building. They also ate snacks and noodles prepared by LOCPG's cooks.

Around 1,500 guests have been invited for the two-day weekend event.

LOCPG officially plays a communication bridge between the central government and the HKSAR government.

Wang Zhimin, director of LOCPG, said he hopes the open days will help the public know more about the work of mainland officials in Hong Kong.

Wang said the LOCPG will continue to support the work of HKSAR government in accordance with the Basic Law and the "one country, two systems" principle, so as to help maintain and contribute to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.

The next open day activity will take place in the second half of 2018. From this year, the LOCPG will organize the open day activity twice a year.
