Six Cambodian children suffering from congenital heart disease received free treatment at a hospital in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Wednesday.

In December 2017, Yunnan Fuwai Cardiovascular Diseases Hospital sent a medical team to Battambang to conduct screening for the disease for about 13,000 children in kindergartens and 21 schools. Twenty-six children were found carrying the disease.

The first batch of seven patients went to Yunnan to receive treatment in January, returning to Cambodia in good health. The rest of the child patients will travel to Yunnan in August, the hospital said.

Doctors said that all the patients were in good condition, and the expense of their treatment had been covered by government, charities and the hospital.

The hospital plans to send more doctors to help treat people in rural communities in neighboring countries.
