Leading Chinese mapping service provider Amap has partnered with Alibaba Cloud to roll out a smart system to help ease public transport congestion.

The system, City Brain & Smart Transportation, leverages Amap's abundant transport data pool and Alibaba Cloud's cloud computing technologies to improve public transport analysis and command efficiency.

The public service version of this system will first be implemented in 50 cities including Beijing and Shanghai, and is expected to reduce commuters' time by 10 percent for each trip, according to Dong Zhenning, vice president of Amap.

The system will also be open to the entire transport industry for analysis and application, Dong added.

Founded in 2002, Amap has over 700 million users. It has worked with over 150 cities to develop smart transport systems and established partnerships with government agencies.
