China opens consulate in Russia's Kazan

China opened a consulate-general in the Russian city of Kazan on Wednesday, the sixth Chinese consulate in Russia.

China opened a consulate-general in the Russian city of Kazan on Wednesday, the sixth Chinese consulate in Russia.

"Its opening meets the urgent needs of the sustainable high-level development of China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination," said Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui.

The establishment of the consulate also corresponds to the strong desire of the two peoples to build friendly ties, Li said at an opening ceremony.

Kazan is the capital of the Tatarstan Republic and the sixth most populous city in Russia.

Now China has consulates in Russia's Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Irkutsk.
