The Belt and Road Initiative was a signature policy unveiled by President Xi Jinping in 2013 to expand commerce and international relations between China and other countries.
The initiative connects China with Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and Africa via the Old Silk Road and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
The ancient silk routes embody the spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit.
