Internet authorities in Beijing have ordered Ifeng News to shut its news app for two weeks and launch an in-depth crackdown for “disseminating illegal and harmful information, distorting the original meaning of the news headlines and breaking the rule on reposting news information” on its app and wap website.

Updates of the information and finance sections on ifeng.com will be suspended from 3pm on September 26 to 3pm on October 10 while updates for its science section will be halted from 3pm on September 26 to 3pm on October 26. The app and wap website will both stop updating from 3pm on September 26 to 3pm on October 10.

Ifeng.com officials said they recognized the seriousness of the problem and would strictly comply with crackdown requirements.
