Most crowded tourist attractions in upcoming National Day holiday
The West Lake, the Palace Museum and Shanghai Disney Resort will be some of the most crowded tourist attractions during the upcoming seven-day National Day holiday, big data reports revealed.
The period between 10am and 11am on Monday, the first day of the holiday, and between 4pm and 5pm on October 5 should witness the most serious traffic congestion on expressways, according to a joint report by China Academy of Transportation Sciences and online travel operator Ctrip.
The West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, is estimated to be the most crowded scenic spot during the holiday, followed by the Palace Museum, Tiananmen Square, Shanghai Disney Resort, the Summer Palace, Terracotta Warriors, the Great Wall and Nanjing Confucius Temple, according to the report based on traffic analysis and booking orders.
Beijing, Sanya, Guilin, Xiamen and Kunming are among the most popular domestic destinations, while Japan, Thailand, Russia and the United States are the hottest overseas destinations for Chinese travelers during the holiday, Ctrip said.
Destinations famous for maple appreciation are increasingly popular since September, said travel review website Mafengwo based on search results.
Xiangshan Mountain in Beijing, Yuelu Mountain in Hunan Province, Wuyuan County in Jiangxi Province, Qixia Mountain in Jiangsu Province and Fanjing Mountain in Guizhou Province known for their beautiful maple landscape are some of the most favored, it said.
