Former broker of Wang Baoqiang sentenced to 6 years' prison

Song Zhe, former broker of actor Wang Baoqiang, has been sentenced to six years in prison in Beijing on Thursday for the crime of duty encroachment, according to Chaoyang District People's Court in Beijing.

Xiu Yule, who was also involved in the case, has been sentenced to three years.

Song took advantage of his position as general manager and Wang’s broker at Wang Baoqiang (Shanghai) Film and TV Culture Studio from 2014 to 2016 and embezzled 2.325 million yuan (US$335,212) by inflating figures on performance and endorsement fees. Xiu embezzled 1.675 million yuan of the amount.

Song and Xiu have been dealt with leniently as they have returned all the embezzled funds, according to the court. 

Fees totaling 2.325 million yuan that has been seized by the court will be returned to the studio after the ruling takes effect.
