Li Yong, a famous former anchorman at China’s CCTV, died at 5:20am on October 25 after a 17-month-long battle with cancer in the United States, his wife Ha Wen announced on Weibo on Monday morning. 

Ha said in the post that she had lost her love forever. He was just 50 years old.

Li, born in 1968, was enrolled at the Communication University of China in 1987 and entered CCTV as a TV director in 1991. He was known for hosting popular TV shows “Super 6+1” and “Lucky 52." Li was one of the anchors of the famous CCTV Spring Festival gala in 2002.
