Funeral of former non-communist party leader held in Beijing

The funeral of Wang Guangying, a former leader of the China National Democratic Construction Association and All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, was held Friday in Beijing.

Wang, also former vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee and former vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, passed away due to illness, aged 100, in Beijing on October 29. Wang also served as honorary chairman of the state-owned China Everbright Group.

Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng, Wang Qishan and Hu Jintao paid their final respects at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in Beijing on Friday morning.

They paid tribute during a moment of silence and bowed three times in front of the late leader's body. They also extended condolences to his family.

Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng, Wang Qishan, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao had either visited Wang when he was in hospital or offered their condolences to his family after his death.

Wang was an excellent representative of China's modern industrial and commercial entrepreneurs, a reputed social activist, an outstanding leader of the CNDCA and ACFIC and a close friend of the Communist Party of China, said an obituary released after his death.
