Qiandao Lake, providing food for thought and a source of economic wealth
To promote Thousand Islands Lake and consciousness of water protection, Chun’an County organized an experiencing activity, digging deep of the county’s water utilization work, that attracted students from several of the area's prestigious universities.
Thousand Islands Lake, located in Chun’an County in the southwest part of Hangzhou, is one of the finest water sources in China. The Xin’anjiang Dam, which is used to generate electricity, created a reservoir that turned 1,078 mountain tops into islands, and formed the present-day Thousand Islands Lake, or Qiandao Lake.
Nongfu Spring, based in Chun’an, is one of the best-known beverage producers in China. University students visited its automatic factory to learn the process of how local water ends up becoming a bottled beverage on a supermarket shelf.
Thousand Islands Lake is also noted for its mouthwatering fish cuisine. Local farmed fish tastes much tender than its market counterparts because of clean water and scientific breeding methods.
The Jinshan Fish Bay is the largest fish breeding and releasing base in Zhejiang Province. Students experienced catching and releasing fish, and got to know about the fish reproductive process.
