The ancient city of Shaoxing, in neighboring Zhejiang Province, boasts a history of over 2,500 years. It is widely known for its beautiful scenery and rich culture and heritage.

Shaoxing is home to Yuecheng, Keqiao, Shangyu, Zhuji, Shengzhou and Xinchang districts. The whole area of the city covers 8,279 square kilometers; about 4.9 million people call it home.

The total amount of its GDP in 2017 reached 510.8 billion yuan (US$73.75), ranking the fourth in Zhejiang Province.

The per capita GDP is US$15,100, and the annual fiscal income is 70.6 billion yuan.

Per capita disposable income of urban households reached 54,445 yuan and per capita income for rural residents is 30,331 yuan.

There are currently 71 listed companies in Shaoxing, 22 of them in the top 500 of China’s privately run enterprises, taking up one-fifth of the whole of Zhejiang Province.

Privately run enterprises in Shaoxing take up over 90 percent of the total economic volume.

As an important export base of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the export volume of Shaoxing in 2017 was 185.2 billion yuan, exporting to 217 countries and regions, ranked the fourth in Zhejiang Province and the eighth in the whole Yangtze River Delta region.

Located at the center of the Yangtze River Delta economic region, Shaoxing is regarded as an ideal place to develop a opportunity.

As the only pilot city in Zhejiang Province to improve traditional industries, Shaoxing will promote new businesses to enhance the competitiveness of the city.

The current industries of textiles, chemicals, metal processing, rice wine and pearls take up around 60 percent of all business enterprises in Shaoxing.

There are four national economic and technological development zones in Shaoxing, namely Gaoxin Zone, Keqiao Zone, Paojiang Zone and Shangyu Zone at Hangzhou Bay, as well as Shaoxing Binhai New Town, a province-level industrial park established in 2010.

Those development zones have been providing a wide platform for investors and career-builders.

Shaoxing also has a good international reputation for its business environment, providing an efficient administrative service to all the investors in the city.

The New Transit Railway is part of the planned Shaoxing suburban rail network. It runs from Qianqing in Keqiao District to Shangyu in Shangyu District, along the Xiaoshan-Ningbo railway.

At the end of this September, Qianqing’s third station started operations and extended the line with an additional 20 kilometers.
