Even a fierce fire couldn't stop three elderly heroes from saving their neighbors.

A fire broke out around 6pm at a residential building in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province on March 2, Qianjiang Evening News reported.

An elderly couple living on the third floor shouted for help after a liquid petroleum gas tank in their kitchen leaked and caught fire. They climbed out a window and perched on a ledge.

Their neighbors, 75-year-old Luo Yazhou, 88-year-old Ying Xianyue and 74-year-old Wang Tongxiao, immediately came to their rescue.

Luo told his son to call the fire brigade while he, together with Ying and Wang, kicked the door open.

Luo, a former navy officer who's interested in fire fighting knowledge, risked his own safety to put out the flames with an extinguisher taken from the corridor.

He then found the frightened couple perched outside the window and pulled the man to safety with the help of Ying and Wang.

Meanwhile, local firemen had arrived at the scene — they removed the leaking gas tank and pulled the elderly woman to safety.

Thanks to timely rescue efforts, the elderly couple didn't suffer any serious injuries in the incident.
