Four people were confirmed missing after landslides triggered by sudden rainstorms in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, local authorities said Saturday.

On Friday afternoon, the municipality's Guanba Township was hit by heavy rainfall, collapsing two houses and leaving four people missing.

The accumulated precipitation reached 169.8 mm, causing 12,000 cubic meters of soil landslides.

Search and rescue work is underway.
