Following the publication of a "news story" on many websites on Monday, purportedly by Xinhua and declaring a "ceasefire" in the China-US trade war, Xinhua issued a statement.

Following the publication of a “news story” on many websites on Monday morning, purportedly by Xinhua News Agency and declaring a “ceasefire” in the China-US trade war, Xinhua issued a statement.
The agency said the story “Xinhua news agency: China-US trade war ceasefire” is actually a year old and was first published by Xinhua on May 20, 2018.
Xinhua said it condemned the misrepresentation and using its name to publish "fake" news.
Xinhua said it reserved the right to take any legal action.
