Thirteen people were injured in a traffic accident when a car plowed through pedestrians while they were crossing a road at a green light, before hitting two cars in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, on Tuesday, Guangzhou police said in a statement on its official Weibo.

The car ran a red light and rammed into pedestrians and cars at an intersection of Linhe Road M. and Linle Road at around 8:50am on Tuesday.

All the injured were taken to hospital, two seriously hurt.

Ding, the 45-year-old driver, has been detained by police. The investigation is underway.
