The National Meteorological Center on Tuesday renewed yellow alert for high temperatures for several regions in China.

The provinces of Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei and Hunan, as well as Chongqing Municipality will see high temperatures ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, the NMC said on its website.

Temperatures in some regions in Henan, Shandong and Hubei may reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, the observatory warned.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall will hit several regions in south China from Tuesday to Thursday, with areas between the Yellow River and the Huai River seeing downpours.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
