Jiaxing development zone lures more big projects

A large group of major projects, including Shanghai Pudong Software Park Jiaxing Base and the second headquarters of the Shanghai Urban Construction Design and Research Institute, will be built in the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone, it was announced at an investment promotion meeting on June 20.

Responding to the national strategy of integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, is continuously introducing high-quality resources from Shanghai and the Suzhou Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province.

More than 30 batches of delegates from the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone have come to Shanghai for business negotiations and investment promotion this year. A group of high-quality projects, such as Tragot’s new packaging material project with a total investment of US$65 million, have been unveiled.

Currently, over 80 percent of projects in the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone are from Shanghai as a result of the regional cooperation strategy between the two cities.

Besides, the zone has also expanded cooperation and exchanges with the Shanghai Pudong Software Park and the Shanghai Qingpu Industrial Zone in the areas of education and health.

In the first five months, the contractual foreign investment of the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone increased 64.4 percent from a year earlier to US$412 million, with actual foreign investment amounting to US$129 million. The zone’s fixed asset investment grew 16.2 percent year-on-year to 11.09 billion yuan (US$1.61 billion).
