Hangzhou rides wave of Qiantang River festival
The curtain for the 3rd Hangzhou Qiantang River International Cultural Festival will be lifted on July 3 and remain open until November in Jianggan District.
Eleven major activities are planned including music, performing arts, painting and an international surfing competition on the Qiantang River.
A series of themed cultural events will be launched, including a newly composed symphony, Qiantang River Cultural Week in Beijing and the “Xia Yan Cup” film script award. Meanwhile, a development blueprint for the Qiantang River will be released.
Cultural ambassadors of the festival are film director Wang Xiaoying, a pioneer of China’s cultural and creative industry, professor Jin Yuanpu, writer Wu Xiaobo, composer Guan Xia and Australian Tim Clancy, who this year was the first foreigner named as one of the "10 Outstanding Young Talent in Hangzhou."
