"Spider-Man: Far from Home" has swung past the 1 billion yuan mark at the Chinese mainland box office.

Ten days into its screening, the film has grossed nearly 1.1 billion yuan (about US$159.6 million) in the world's second-largest film market.

The film has scored eight out of ten points on Douban, a major Chinese film rating platform, with 27 percent of its nearly 230,000 viewers giving a five-star review.

With its strong performance, total box office revenue of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise has exceeded 20 billion yuan on the Chinese mainland, according to Maoyan, a major Chinese film database.

"Avengers: Endgame," Marvel's landmark tentpole released in April, is now the second-highest grossing film on the mainland in 2019, with a 4.2-billion-yuan theatrical run.
