The social media account of a rapper has been closed permanently after he appeared to chop off a finger while live streaming, The Beijing News reported on Tuesday.

The rapper, going by the stage name Beibei, seemed agitated and said he would cut off one finger in order to prove his innocence while live streaming at yizhibo.com on Tuesday morning.

Chopping sounds could be heard and then he showed what appeared to be a hand with a missing finger.

Beibei is a member of Honghuahui, a popular hiphop label from China’s Xi’an, Shaanxi Province.

When contacted by news portal Sina.com, Honghuahui said Beibei, who has hyperthyroidism, had been wronged by cyber violence and "want to prove his conscience."

Staff with Honghuahui said they were sorry but maintained Beibei was also a victim.

Yizhibo.com, the live streaming platform, said it needed to further verify whether the self-injury was real or not, but in any case Beibei had already violated the rules and his account had been closed.
