Chinese mainland box office revenue reached 790 million yuan (US$111.64 million) during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, which ended Sunday.

Leading the box office was domestic fantasy film "Jade Dynasty," which earned about 270 million yuan during the holiday, according to the China Movie Data Information Network.

It was followed by "The Fist of Blue Sapphire," the 23rd installment of the Japanese animated film "Detective Conan," which raked in nearly 159 million yuan.

Coming in third was domestic production "The Last Wish," which made about 119 million yuan at the box office.

Domestic animation hit "Ne Zha" managed to maintain its momentum after over 50 days of screening, grossing about 61.06 million yuan.

The film, with a nearly 4.9-billion-yuan box office performance, is set to pass the 5-billion-yuan mark in the coming days, a milestone that has only been reached by the 2017 action film "Wolf Warrior 2."

The mainland box office is only half a month away from the National Day holiday peak season when big productions vie for lucrative box office earnings.

Three much-anticipated domestic productions, "Me and My Motherland," "The Climbers" and "The Captain," all set for a Sept. 30 debut, are this year's major contenders.

Chinese mainland box office revenue reached 1.9 billion yuan during last year's week-long National Day holiday.
