Online fraud a major cybercrime in China: judicial report
The number of fraud cases accounted for nearly 32 percent of cybercrime cases handled by Chinese courts between 2016 and 2018, the highest among all 258 types of cybercrime, according to a judicial report released Tuesday.
Chinese courts at all levels concluded more than 48,000 cybercrime cases in the first trials from 2016 to 2018, accounting for 1.54 percent of all criminal cases, said the report issued by a big data research institute attached to the Supreme People's Court.
Both the number and proportion of the cybercrime cases continued to rise year on year, the report said.
